Have they gotten use to the fact that they will not return to their previous normal condition? Or worse do they still have the passion to go on living despite their situation?

Being disable does not automatically label one as fruitless or ineffective. People with disabilities can still perform activities but in a different way.  Whether you are using a reading device or graded glasses for reading, a wheelchair or cane for assistance, you are still capable of learning new things, growing and maturing just like everyone else. Knowing someone who has a particular type of difficulty enables you to realize that there are certain tasks or activities that are difficult for him or her to perform such as people on a wheelchair may have difficulty moving to places if there is no available ramp or lift.

People with special needs do not mean that they are dumb and needs your pity. All they need is just a little extra help and understanding when doing some activities. Asking them what you can offer for assistance and extending your patience can be highly appreciated. Words of encouragement during a successful task can uplift their spirits enabling them to work hard inorder to be independent making them feel at least comfortable of their present situation.

Learning and understanding people with disability is the best way to cope up with their needs whether physical, spiritual or emotional. There are many organizations, social groups and websites that provide services to cater different areas of concern. Living with a disabled person is challenging as it may require a sound mind when handling to their special needs. By being receptive to ideas and changes with the help of accessible information, living with them will be much more comfortable.
